Barely There Intimates

Sexy lingerie is something that will make people do some really bizarre things. It will make men go to the ends of the earth to get to know a woman, spend untold amounts of money and behave, occasionally, like total idiots. In order to look sexy, occasionally women will do unaccountable things themselves, like wearing something that is wholly uncomfortable, does not sit well on the body, rides up or pinches, or hurts them in any number of unnecessary and unpleasant ways. We have reached this point regardless of whether it is the best thing for women, for men or for anyone. But when it comes to sexy underwear and comfortable underwear, is it an either/or question? Is it really impossible to look sexy and feel comfortable at the same time?

There are some who would argue that in the words of the old French saying “il faut souffrir pour etre belle”  - “one must suffer in order to be beautiful”. But how true is that? How many people would agree that suffering is advantageous in one’s efforts to be beautiful, when the fact remains that discomfort is hard to hide. If you are uncomfortable, itchy, in pain or restricted in any way, it will show in your face and in the way you move. It is highly possible for something designed to look sexy to actually detract from one’s personal attractiveness. A bra may look absolutely sumptuous when on the store hanger or in the picture on the website, but if you get it home and the straps dig into your shoulders or the underwire makes breathing difficult, that is hard to turn into sex kitten material.

In 1995 a company was founded in America which was aimed squarely at ending this situation once and for all. Barely There Intimates was founded on the realisation that a woman could not look sexy without being able to show her best side. A woman’s best side will never come out when she feels as though she is sitting on a fence. Barely There created a new collection of panties which had no seams and showed no visible panty line – and as a result were exceptionally comfortable to wear. The panties were created using softer fibers and flat stitching. The result, although arguably not as showy as some of the more high-profile underwear, allowed a woman to flatter her assets without feeling uncomfortable, and as a result helped women feel sexy. If that is not sexy lingerie, what is?

More recently, Barely There have also created tag free bras and panties. Influenced by the popularity of men’s tag free T-shirts made by Hanes, they created underwear without the annoying tags which irritate the skin and make it impossible to ever sit comfortably. The philosophy behind this whole process is that although sexy lingerie is great, the fact remains that without someone to wear it, it’s just lingerie. Sexy lingerie is lingerie that allows a woman to be sexy. Anything else is a distraction from the most important thing – the woman.
